Terms of Use

DRAFT FOR REVIEW, NOT YET FINAL

Who we are

Brook is a reader-powered publishing platform. Readers vote on book ideas, submit their own, and pre-order books they want to exist. These terms explain how using Brook works.

Voting and submitting ideas

Voting on ideas is free. When you submit an idea, you confirm it is your own and you give Brook permission to display it, develop it into a campaign, and commission a book based on it. Ideas are reviewed before they appear publicly, and we may edit them lightly for clarity.

Backing a book

Backing a campaign is a pre-order of $35. A campaign is greenlit when 250 readers back it. The exact payment moment and refund flow will be published here before payments open. You will never pay for a book that does not happen.

Your account and your conduct

Be kind. Do not submit ideas that are hateful, unlawful, or copied from someone else. We may remove content or decline submissions that break these rules.

The books

Books created through Brook are commissioned works. Backing a campaign entitles you to the rewards listed on that campaign page. It does not transfer ownership of the book, its story, or its rights.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Brook grows. When we do, the date below changes and meaningful updates are announced on the site.
