Everything readers ask us about how Brook works.

Brook is a publishing platform where readers choose what gets written. Vote for ideas you love or submit your own. When 250 readers back an idea, it becomes a real book.

Your $35 pledge is charged today, the moment you back a book. When you back a book with a $35 pledge, you're helping bring a story into the world. Pledges are non-refundable, even if a campaign doesn't reach 250 readers, but your support never disappears. If a book doesn't move forward, your pledge stays with Brook, helping future authors, future ideas, and the next story that sparks our community. Every dollar keeps the lights on for the books that deserve to be born.

You choose the cover, your name is printed in the back of the book, you get contact with the commissioned writer, a free e-book link to the finished story, and a discounted copy of the printed book on Amazon.

The book does not move forward, and that is how Brook keeps every published book truly reader-chosen. When you back a book with a $35 pledge, you're helping bring a story into the world. 60 days. If 250 readers back the book in that window, it is greenlit and the writing begins. If it does not get there, the campaign closes and every backer gets an email explaining what happens next.

A commissioned writer starts the manuscript and shares updates with backers along the way. Editing follows, then backers vote on the cover, then the book is formatted and published on Amazon in both e-book and print.

By the people who backed the book. Brook sends two cover options to every backer of that campaign and you have two weeks to vote. The cover with the most votes is the one the book wears.

Yes. Every backer is listed in the back of the book as part of Brook's community imprint. If you would rather not be named, tell us and we will leave you off the list.

Draft, final wording after kickoff

Commissioned writers chosen for each project. Every campaign page discloses how its book is made.

Absolutely. That is the heart of Brook. Submitting an idea costs $35, which keeps every idea serious and personally read. Submit it, share it, and rally readers behind it.

In one case only. If your idea is declined because it does not fit Brook's values, the fee goes back to your card. In every other case the fee is non-refundable: it covers a real person reading and considering your idea with care.

Still curious?

The best way to understand Brook is to explore the books readers are backing right now.
