The Brook engine

From one sentence to a finished book.

Brook runs on one simple, repeatable engine. Here are the nine steps every book goes through, start to finish, with nothing hidden.

250

backers greenlight a book

$35

per pledge, one flat price

60

days for a campaign to fill

2

weeks for backers to pick the cover

  1. 01
    The spark

    A reader submits an idea

One sentence is enough. The book you wish existed, described the way you would describe it to a friend. Submitting costs $35, which keeps every idea serious and makes sure a real person reads it.

  2. 02
    The read

    Brook approves the idea

Galia reads every submission herself and looks at three things: quality, feasibility, and whether the idea will resonate with readers. Approved ideas become campaigns. Ideas that are not a fit today are often a fit later.

  3. 03
    The gathering

    A 60-day campaign opens

The goal is 250 backers at $35 each, which is $8,750. Every pledge is a pre-order and a vote that says this story deserves to exist.

  4. 04
If it does not reach 250

    The campaign closes

Pledges are non-refundable and stay with Brook to support future campaigns. Every backer gets a warm thank-you explaining how their support keeps the next story alive. Nothing is wasted, it just moves forward with the ecosystem.

  5. 05
    If it succeeds

    A writer is commissioned

The book is greenlit, a writer is commissioned, and the manuscript begins. Backers receive milestone updates as the story takes shape, so you see the book being written rather than waiting in the dark.

  6. 06
    The shaping

    Editing and cover voting

The manuscript goes through editing. At the same time, backers vote on the final cover, with a two-week window to choose. The cover with the most votes is the one the book wears forever.

  7. 07
    The making

    Production

The book is formatted for print and e-book. The names of all 250 backers go in the back as Brook's community imprint, listed as Anonymous for anyone who prefers to stay unnamed.

  8. 08
    The thank you

    Rewards

Every backer receives a free e-book of the finished story, plus a discount code for the printed edition.

  9. 09
    The close

    Completion

A final thank-you email closes the campaign, and the book joins Brook's public library, where it stays for every reader who arrives after you.

It all starts with 250 readers.

Back a book that is gathering readers right now, or send in the one you wish existed.
